Street Jam Live was a celebration of street art, music and creativity held in Southampton’s Guildhall Square as part of Solent Showcase’s annual programme.
Now in its fourth year, the free event brought leading international graffiti artists, street artists and illustrators into the heart of Southampton’s Cultural Quarter, where they created new large-scale works throughout the day using materials including perspex, board and industrial cling film. The event also featured live music and creative activity from SOCO Music Project, a local organisation working with people of all ages to encourage participation in music and the arts.
Ben Grace was commissioned to work alongside community filmmaking charity City Eye to capture the energy and atmosphere of the event. The resulting film documents the artists at work, the evolving artworks and the crowds experiencing the event, creating a visual record of a vibrant day of public creativity.
The project brought together Ben’s experience in filmmaking and arts documentation, with a focus on capturing both the scale of the artwork and the people and activity that brought the event to life.
