About Clearwaste

Ben Grace was commissioned by Clearwaste to write and direct a series of television advertisements promoting the launch of the company’s fly-tipping reporting service.

Clearwaste’s platform allows members of the public to report instances of fly-tipping through its website and mobile app, with reports automatically passed to the relevant local authority for investigation and removal. The campaign was created to introduce the service to a wider audience while communicating its purpose in an accessible and engaging way.

Filmed at Holywell Estate in Swanmore in May 2019, the campaign featured a cast of established British actors including John Challis, best known for Only Fools and Horses, The Green Green Grass and Benidorm, alongside Emily Head of The Inbetweeners and Emmerdale, and Frankie Oatway.

Ben wrote and directed the advertisements, overseeing the project from concept through production and post-production. The finished campaign was broadcast nationally and generated significant regional media attention, with coverage from BBC South Today, the Dorset Echo, Daily Echo and Portsmouth News, among others.

The project brought together Ben’s experience in narrative filmmaking and commercial production, using recognisable talent and a character-driven approach to turn a practical public service into an engaging advertising campaign.
